Dena & Dave | Race Street Pier

It took about 30 seconds into our Race Street Pier engagement session to be head over friendship heels for Dena and Dave. Anyone that loves cats as much as they do/we do is a friend for life.

When we’re first meeting a couple, we like to ask them about their story. What makes people and their relationships unique is fascinating, beautiful, and works to guide us as creatives. One of the first questions we usually ask is directed at the engagement. So, when we found out Dave proposed to Dena in Tokyo at the Gotokuji Temple, which is said to be the origin of the “maneki neko” or “lucky cat”, we nearly died. That’s not even mentioning that her engagement ring is custom made, featuring two cats, modeled after their own fur babies. #davewins

Through our walking, talking, and photographing we got to know these two quite well. Dave is actually an INCREDIBLE artist that I had known about for years, but never met in person. Realizing this Dave was the Dave I knew to be such a massive talent was a wonderful surprise. To say we all hit it off is an understatement.

Between these two amazing humans, listening to their adventures, and the gorgeous backdrop that is Race Street Pier and Spruce Street Harbor Park, nothing could spoil our time… not even the summer rain.  It was an incredible summer outing with two people that became fast friends. It’s hard to have a better experience.

A big thank you to Philly In Love for featuring Dena and Dave on their blog!

And keep your eyes peeled for their wedding post! It is not only so SO fun… but theres more cats!
